“It’s getting hot in here”

Successful on-boarding Event for the new employees of Constantia Afripack today in Durban

It was an exciting and special day for some 700 Afripack employees in South Africa. Nearly all the printing presses had been turned off and the workforce had been invited to a big welcome event near the labels plant in Durban. CEO Alexander Baumgartner travelled all the way from Europe together with his colleagues Friedrich Humer, responsible for Emerging Markets, and Mike Henry, the Head of the Labels Division, to celebrate that the former Afripack employees are now part of the global CFLEX family. All the guests received a small “welcome package” with a T-Shirt, a miniature soccer ball, a baseball cap and an overview of  Constantia Flexibles as a Group.

The CFLEX delegation was welcomed by James Hynd, Group CFO, and Afripack CEO, Arnold Vermaak, who pointed out the potential of the recently closed acquisition: “We can now say that we are they global number FOUR when it comes to flexibles packaging – not THEY but WE together!”

Baumgartner and Humer both addressed the new employees in a short welcome speech. “We are here for a reason”, Baumgartner said. “We are here to grow our business in one of the fastest growing markets for flexible packaging – this is all happening here in Africa and we want to be a vital part of it!”

Humer added that directly from the beginning, he thought that Afripack would be a great match for Constantia Flexibles: “I am very excited to be here to witness the moment, when we actually become one company – I have always felt that our motto is very much alive here at Constantia Afripack: PEOPLE, PASSION, PACKAGING!”

The on-boarding celebration concluded with a nice buffet lunch with local specialties called “Braai” in South Africa and in the end the many content faces were a great sign that the future of Constantia Afripack as the newest member of the global CFLEX Group will be a very successful one.
